Is this real WordPress?

For the past year, I’ve been quietly building toward something I’ve wanted for a long time. SpinupWP inspired me. I wanted to build something that makes running WordPress infrastructure simple.
I almost built it.
Instead, I split out the provisioning engine and released PressCtl. Now, using that same engine, I’ve released WordSail — starting with free WordPress sandboxes. I know sandbox sites aren’t exactly the shiny new thing anymore. You can run PHP in the browser. There’s WordPress Playground. There are plenty of ways to spin up a temporary WordPress environment.
But the sandboxes are just the beginning. I want to show every WordPress self-hoster how far you can push a $5 VPS — from Cloudflare and security to caching, scaling, and running high-traffic WooCommerce sites.
And I want all of that knowledge to be structured for the next generation of AI agents. Because I don’t want humans spending their nights fighting fatal errors, malware, DDoS attacks, broken updates, and server problems.
