This policy explains what personal data WordSail (“we”, “us”) collects when you use our managed WordPress hosting service, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what we need to run the service, we don’t sell it, and we don’t use it for advertising.

1. Data we collect

Account data

  • Name and email address, which you provide at sign-up. Passwords are stored hashed — we cannot read them.
  • If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and Google account ID from Google. We do not receive your Google password or access to anything else in your Google account.

Service data

  • Sites you create and their settings (address, plan, expiry dates), so we can host and manage them.
  • Operational logs — IP addresses, browser information, and timestamps of requests to our control panel — kept for security, abuse prevention, and debugging.

Payment data

Payments are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle collects your payment details under its own privacy policy; we receive only what we need to manage your subscription (such as its status), never your card number.

2. How we use your data

  • To provide the service: creating sites, signing you in, managing subscriptions.
  • To send transactional email — verification links, site expiry warnings, billing notices. These are part of the service and can’t be opted out of while you have an account; we don’t send marketing email without separate consent.
  • To keep the platform safe: rate limiting, blocking abuse, and investigating violations of our Terms.
  • To respond when you contact support.

3. Cookies

We use only essential cookies: a session cookie to keep you signed in and a CSRF token to protect forms. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

4. Who we share data with

We share data only with the providers we need to operate the service, and only what each one needs:

  • DigitalOcean — the cloud provider whose servers host your sites and their databases.
  • Amazon Web Services — runs the automation that creates and manages sites on those servers.
  • Paddle — payment processing and subscription billing.
  • Google — only if you choose Google sign-in.
  • Our email delivery provider, to send the transactional messages described above.

We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of WordSail, our users, or the public. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

5. Your sites’ visitors

Content published on your WordPress sites — including any personal data your visitors submit to them — is yours, and you are the data controller for it. We process that data only as your hosting provider (storing and serving it). You are responsible for giving your own visitors any privacy notices the law requires.

6. Retention and deletion

  • Account data is kept while your account exists and deleted when you delete your account.
  • Expired free-plan sites are suspended for a 7-day grace period, then permanently deleted, including their databases.
  • Operational logs are kept for a limited period (typically no more than 90 days) unless needed for an active investigation.

7. Security

All traffic to the control panel and to hosted sites is encrypted with TLS. Passwords are hashed, two-factor authentication is available on every account, and access to production systems is restricted to the people who operate the service. No system is perfectly secure — if a breach affects your data, we will notify you as the law requires.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. You can update your name and email in your account settings and delete sites yourself; for anything else, email support@wordsail.com and we will respond within 30 days.

9. Children

WordSail is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, contact us and we will remove it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. For material changes we will notify you by email or an in-app notice before they take effect. The date at the top reflects the latest revision.

11. Contact

Privacy questions or requests: support@wordsail.com. Our terms of use are described in the Terms of Service.
